Left-right confusion can affect kids’ school performance and daily activities in many ways. Here are some examples:
Math
- In order to find success in math, kids must think of numbers on an imaginary number line. They need to have a sense that “3” is the the “right” of “2”.
- Kids who struggle with left and right often have trouble with math computations because they don’t understand that they need to start on the right and “carry over” numbers to the left.
- Older kids can find graphing challenging since it requires directions to plot points.
Reading and Writing
